The Philanthropist
State of emergence:
Why we need artists right now

These images accompany a text by Shannon Litzenberger on how artists might have the key to imagine different, more inclusive futures in time of crisis.

The main image shows artists within a collapsing system, in all their diversity, they are on a stage performing while the very curtain that frames them falls heavily on their shoulders. In the subsequent “spots”, a narrative unfolds, starting with the artists trapped in too narrow boxes. They then dance on the ruins of that rigid system and envision a future that looks like them. Finally, they build new worlds from the ground up.
